Excellent Explanation of the Crisis and Its Causes
January 12, 2012
The book “Kasino-Kapitalismus” offers a very good overview of the causes that led to the financial crisis. The connections within the financial world relevant to the crisis are precisely explained. In the final chapter, the author also proposes measures to prevent such crises in the future.
The many color diagrams are very clear, seem to have been created very conscientiously, and are well-explained.
I only have basic knowledge of economics and therefore cannot offer any criticism of the content. In any case, the argumentation in the book is consistently objective and logical.
At times, however, I thought that some explanations could have been moved to footnotes or an appendix because they otherwise get in the way during a “first reading”—for example, with the equity ratios in Chapter 7. But in the end, it wasn’t that bad.
The only downside is that the paperback is poorly bound. The spine had already come loose by the second day.
Otherwise, I can highly recommend this book.
