A field report from Ukraine, May 2026. The first conflict in which the dominant weapon is not a platform but a graph — of factories, signals, components, doctrines, and people — drawn here as it appeared in the spring of that year.
The drones are not the story. The network is — a fabric of small factories, open-source firmware, fiber spools, smuggled chips and trained operators that, almost without anyone deciding so, became the dominant form of military force in 2026. Read this atlas as a map of that fabric.
Each phase is a node. Edges are drawn where one phase made the next conceivable, or where two phases co-evolved under each other's pressure. The highlighted edges trace the path most reporters now consider primary.
